That’s it. Really. There’s no catch.
Many potential clients are initially surprised to find our pricing model is so simple and it can lead to a bit of confusion at first. Consulting is the only type of work we bill variably / hourly. Everything else is a simple flat rate structure.
That said, we can work with any client to accommodate any payment needs; however, we’ve found flat rate to be the fairest and simplest method for our customers.
We follow these steps and principles with any project:
- What are your goals?
- How do we build a solution to meet your goals?
- How do we provide ongoing support for the solution?
- How do we measure success of the solution?
Typically turn key projects range from $1,500 to $6,000 depending on the scope. We build on WordPress and also deliver managed WordPress services with our sites which range from $50 – $300 per month. The managed service includes ongoing SEO advice, all WordPress, Plugins, Security Updates and Backups as well as non-major site updates whenever needed. For example: we won’t charge you to swap a picture or change some wording if you are under our managed service.
Hosting and Domain Name registration is also flat rate at roughly $100 per 2 years. Of course we can build much more complex sites and those too will be flat rate based on the loop of Goal, Solution, Support, Measure mentioned above with a custom negotiated flat rate turn key price.
Additional add-ons are available, such as global CDN services and increased performance or security. Those can be purchased by us and added to the site or by the client. We don’t mark up our supplier costs, so if you are using managed services it tends to be very easy and fair.
The goal here is to become a long term partner and treat you as we’d treat ourselves. Your success is our success, so we treat your website as if it were our own.
Flat rate support per incident at $75 – $175. There are no callout fees and no hidden fees. No matter how it takes us to resolve the issue, it won’t go over $175. The only exception, of course, are materials. If a Hard Drive needs replacing we’ll charge the cost of the Hard Drive from our Wholesalers – BUT NO MORE. We don’t mark anything up. What we pay is what you pay. If we can’t fix it, there’s no charge. Full Stop.
An incident is defined as a support event from start to finish. A perfect example is a laptop that won’t boot. If we discover that the reason is a failed hard drive the incident covers the replacement of the hard drive, recovery of your data and restoration of the operating system and programs as best we can.
After the incident is closed we look to support you further. If there are minor issues or tuning, we’ll remote in or take a look at it for no charge.
As with websites, the goal here is to form a long term relationship and support your technology needs over the life of your products. Rather than take you for $350 via hourly billing for simple virus removal we aim to partner with you and make sure you get the most from your technology. This isn’t just words either, we mean it.
Custom Business or IT Consulting is billed hourly. Scope is very important for these types of projects so there will be a free initial meeting to nail down the goals and scope of the project. An initial proposal will be generated with high level goals and deliverables defined. At that point a billing and price rate will be agreed upon and clearly stated in the project definitions. We follow PMI / PMP / PMBOK; well-defined processes based on scientific, repeatable and predictable results. There are even formulae we use to calculate delivery time even with the most recalcitrant participants of a change management project.
These management and leaning processes work for projects ranging from network conversions to business system implementations to business process leaning, design or re-engineering. We even use them on our Website or Support projects. The difference with custom consulting tends to be the size and scope of the project and deliverables. We offer a very formalised approach for bigger projects, including gated project approach with detailed documentation at each decision gate.
We are often asked why we don’t charge much more for our services given all that we provide, especially after a client signs up. A common comment is ‘Your prices are too low for what your provide’. The basic bottom line is that after spending decades supporting IT and Business needs for some of the most advanced companies in the world we can provide things much more efficiently than most providers.
Further, we don’t want to milk you for your first or even second interaction with us, we want to form a long term relationship and become your partner for any technology needs you have, forever. That can’t happen if we take you for a ride on any given project.
Finally, we’ve found the other suppliers in the region simply charge far too much for far too little. We’re simply levelling the field with Word Class Technology at real world prices, and the words written on this web page aren’t just marketing. We really, truly believe them and aim to deliver. It’s that simple.
