Seabean Tapas Bar and Restaurant; is an established, well respected restaurant in Port Douglas. They’ve recently re-launched with new menus, new look and an exciting new direction for their restaurant. In line with the re-launch Seabean decided their website needed an update as well.
The owners turned to us based on work on another project; enjoying how fresh and simple the other project’s site was. So we worked with Seabean on a concept to refresh their website hand-in-hand with their creation of new menus and new look.
A Fresh look
The first task was to meet with the owners and understand their new feel and new fresh look for the restaurant itself, and how the website could reflect that as well. One of the nice things about this project was how well the owners had a grasp for their direction and what they were seeking out of a website. It really helps in web development when you have partners with a vision and you can fill that Vision
One of the common issues with restaurant websites are menus, and it is often difficult for owners as they know their menus will change, but they also don’t want to be bothered with HTML, Databases, etc to be able to update their menus. Nor do they want to pay a web developer each time a menu is updated. With this in mind, we built the website so Seabean could update their own menus without us involved. Sure, it means a lack of additional revenue, but it also means a happy and satisfied customer which is far more important than additional work every time a menu is updated.
In that same vein, we built the site so they could control Specials, Features, Galleries, etc without us involved. Essentially the website is a framework or canvas that allows Seabean to paint their narrative as they like, without additional development costs from us. That’s one of the main features in our website philosophy these days, to create dynamic websites that can change as needed, without further development costs. The days of old static HTML website development charged by the hour and with set numbers of pictures, etc is over.
Staying with the times
Because of this framework, Seabean will be able to provide fresh updates and content in a very easy manner. This really helps with Google, Bing and Yahoo because content is King with the search engines. The more you update a website, the more signals the search engines see that this website is providing value on the internet. So Seabean has a blog, galleries to attach photos of their events, and featured area to highlight items. None of these require input from Coral Sea IT.
In addition the website also uses our CDN philosophy to make sure global performance is excellent, so not only is the code very tight and clean, but the website performance is near the top of all websites, assuring better ranking in the search engines.
Exciting Times for Seabean
Its been a big and exciting week for us here at Seabean – we have embraced our Spanish influence and changed Seabean from a cool, calm venue to a vibrant, sexy, tapas bar…
We believe the colour change has completely changed the feel of the restaurant and we love it.
Now open from 3pm for Tapas, we can provide a place to sit and chill with an icy beverage whilst enjoying a plate or two of tapas as the suns starts to slip down towards the mountains.
We have updated our website to reflect our changes and best of all have created a new menu. Loads more tapas plates to choose from and more mouth watering mains from our awesome chef Matthew Campbell.
Come in and check all these changes out for yourself.
See you at Seabean!
Thanks for reading, and thank you Seabean!
