We’ve recently had a really fun project to take a blog by a Port Douglas Family on a fabulous journey to a whole new level. Homeschool Ahoy documents the adventures of a family who have given up their terrestrial abode in paradise; to set sail on an amazing adventure in both living on a boat sailing the tropics and educating their children whilst doing so.
There were some interesting challenges for this project, as being on a boat internet access is not always guaranteed. Design and Development with the owners was conducted remotely and it just goes to show how much you can get done these days with a mobile style connection and a great vision.
The blog features the ability for the owners to write content offline and upload when and where they have internet access with ease and as minimal amount of tinkering as possible. The design also highlights the nautical nature of the blog, with featured page areas resembling portholes on a ship and a very clean / sleek white design mimicking their boat, Katsumi
The design centers around being as easy as possible to operate and allow the owners to focus on their sailing Katsumi and educating the kids at the same time. It isn’t often you get an opportunity to work on a truly unique project, but this is one that we really enjoyed and look forward to following purely out of interest.
Thanks for reading, and be sure to follow Homeschool Ahoy on their journeys.
