Daintree Rainforest Luxury Right at the Doorstep of the Rainforest
At the edge of the Daintree Rainforest, there’s amazing accommodation that you have to see to believe. Mossman Motel & Holiday Villas is absolutely stunning all around. Recently renovated and provisioned with absolute luxury and detail, especially for the Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Motel & Holiday Villas was also in need of some SEO work; to get the word out about the renovation and tell the story of this wonderful place.
Just like the Accommodation, the Website needed Renovation
What started as some possible SEO work quickly turned into a Website Project to match the fantastic project already completed on the facilities and grounds. Although some SEO work to raise the word would have been great, the owners understood that the website itself probably needed to match the accommodation. In their words, the old website was “serviceable” but it was clear to them that it could be so much more.
Goal, Solution, Support & Measure
As with all of our projects, we discovered this by first speaking to the owners regarding their goals. One of the primary goals was to raise awareness of this fantastic spot; just minutes from the Daintree Forest, The Great Barrier Reef and Tablelands. Although Mossman Motel & Holiday Villas was using paid Google SEO, their net needed to be more widely cast for both organic and paid SEO. An upgrade to the website was a fantastic way to hit both SEO methods.
There’s a huge wealth of knowledge regarding the Daintree Rainforest area, activities and tours – so the owners needed a better vehicle to tell the story. In that end we settled on Goals to raise the site SEO, to be able to communicate efficiently and effectively the area and activities, to upgrade the site from “serviceable” to fitting and to be able to measure the results.
You have to see this place to believe it
It is often said that a picture speaks a thousands words, and in designing the site we soon found that nothing was more true. We went with a design that was more visual and allowed the images to speak the story more than the text. Here you can see the new design, which allows the Accommodation to show more than tell, and lets the business side take a back seat to what is really the story, the fantastic accommodation at the edge of the Daintree Rainforest. Here we use stunning images that cycle in the background to show the Accommodation and features, without much text standing in the way:
Comparing the before, you can see that we effectively convey the resort without the structural containment of a fixed width old school website design. We’ve also taken our A Picture Tells a Thousand Words further, by upgrading the size and detail of the images without performance suffering.
The new site is more organic in nature, with subtle design cues framing the story, and allowing a new visitor to soak up the Daintree Rainforest and Accommodation whilst quickly finding the information they need.
Metrics speak the tale
As always, we measure our progress, we don’t just feel it out. There’s a stunning image from the metrics which clearly illustrates the impact of the new website. Whilst the site is still young, and Google is yet to fully understand the re-design, the results are crystal clear:
Just looking at the graph, you can see absolute benefit to the search engine results from the redesign of the website.
Performance metrics are also up, with the website performing as we’d expect from a Coral Sea IT project, esp pre-tuning phase. We still have additional refinement to complete so we expect both scores to range in the 90s, but we are very happy with the initial metrics thus far.
